Do you really know what a photo like this means? Do you know what it takes to be a fighter?

Let me put it to you like this…

12 months ago Anthony was invited to take part in the Australian lightweight brace tournament.

At that point he made a decision to increase his skills in martial arts and see out his goal.

Look you don’t get invited to participate in an Australian title if you don’t have what it takes, needless to say it was going to be tough.

So Anthony created his motto ‘ embrace the grind’ knowing what was ahead of him.

He decided to get stronger, get fitter, look for outside sources of knowledge to help him with his foot work, hands, strength, ground work and everything for mixed martial arts.
Man he did everything and I believe so did we and his entire team at trinity.

The first fight we worked on was countering and he did that.

The second fight we continued with that, changed the game plan to wrestling and won the fight.

And over the journey with the hours and hours of hardcore combat… where other people are barbecuing. Training, when other people are sleeping. And recovering when other people are partying, because you’re too sore to move. He kept going! Trust me this isn’t fun. At times he would hate this.

I saw in his eyes the internal fight he was having. To throw it away or to keep going? His heart says go but the body asks why?

But last night his heart and head were aligned!

Last night was for the title… the belt!

Something a fighter visualises over and over, again and again and aspires to.

I know, he knows, and our whole team knows, he put everything into that and to see him perform, as a warrior like he did, was what we expected of him (We would not expect any less as that’s what he needs to get to this level). And again he delivered!

Like anything in life these are the skills you need to succeed. To embrace the grind and and see the things out that you start! To go through the broken toes, bad nights sleep, feelings of giving up and just keep moving forward.
It’s true what slyves says in rocky 6
‘life is about how much you can take and keep moving forward…. That’s how winning is done’

This is what most don’t understand…

This is what this sport teaches you and

I believe this is the biggest belt a martial artists earns.

This is what you have earned Anthony!

It’s yours to wear and apply in all areas of life and when times are tough you get it out.

You can share with others with honour and pride.

Be proud of your belt mate. Osu

Tara’s Journey.

My weight loss journey started 12 months after having my first child 8 years ago, I was diagnosed with Post – Natal Depression and was overweight and very unhappy with myself. I decided instead of turning to food like I had been I would start excercising! Well, playing Netball and losing 20kgs (whilst also having another child) turned into me leaving my desk job in an office and starting work as a receptionist in a gym. Falling in love with the Fitness Industry and people, I decided to become a Personal Trainer so I could motivate others to feel the same success I felt.  5 years Ago I started training with my own trainer and have lost an extra 10kgs, have built on lean muscle and became a Group Fitness Instructor. Becoming a Group Fitness Instructor was a massive achievement for me as someone who suffered from bad anxiety and was very awkward in social situations. Now I Love It!!! After 5 years of strength training I was looking for a new goal and a new direction so started doing extra conditioning work. After I realised I absolutely loved conditioning and the accomplishment it gave me I decided to apply for the first ever Australian Ninja Warrior (Intense Obstacle Course built over water), and guess what I got in!!!!!  This will be the most mentally and physically taxing thing I have ever done in my life, but I’m excited to take on the challenge and see where I can take my body and my mine.

An Adelaide Gym with a difference!

One of our favourite things about Viva Fitness is the community feeling that so many of our members rave about. We have members who have made new best friends, members who have fallen in love and members who now have a great workout buddy.

Even our little Viva Fitness creche kids have found new besties.

workout buddies

Not all gyms are created equal when it comes to that feeling of community that comes with building a local gym that is member, not money focussed.

A lot of our members are long terms members and they keep coming back year after year not just for the exercise equipment and classes but for catching up with friends, feeling part of a team and to have fun.

“The strength of the team is each individual member. The strength of each member is the team.” –Phil Jackson

I have always struggled with my weight and despite playing sports growing up I was never brought up with health, nutrition or fitness as a priority. So it’s safe to say I’ve tried every fad that came along with no direction or education on what was best for me to do and no support to make changes.

Since starting at Viva my body is continuously changing and I’m becoming the person I always wanted to be. Fit, strong, healthy and confident.

This has helped me to get up in front of crowds and wrestle, I now have the energy I only ever dreamt of having, I have the knowledge to break the cycle and make sure my son grows up healthy and with a positive role model. I can tell you exactly how this happened, I train with Stav and do 4 strength sessions a week, I do a warrior class, I get expert advice from everyone at VIVA and I put it into practice, I train twice a week for wrestling and I follow my nutrition plan. I’m excited to see what I will look like when I am holding the ACW Women’s Championship!!!
